Scream is back on Shaw in Calgary!

I found out today SCREAM is back on the Shaw cable lineup, channel 139. Woohoo, I love this channel! And it's free for November and December! Way cool, I just hope Shaw keeps it in their lineup from now on, even if we have to pay $1.99 a month for it. Last time they did the free preview, they turned around and pulled it from their lineup just as I was trying to subscribe to the damn thing. Here's the email I reeceived today:

Hi there,

As someone who is interested in watching SCREAM, you asked us to let you know when our channel would be offered on Shaw Digital Cable. We are excited to announce that SCREAM is returning to Shaw Digital Cable this weekend, just in time for you to catch our incredible Hallowe'en line-up! Current Shaw subscribers will enjoy a free preview of SCREAM during November and December.

We're glad to be back for our Shaw viewers! We hope you'll be tuning in this weekend for a fitting reunion. Horror classics such as Carrie, Poltergeist, The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Halloween are scheduled to keep you on the edge of your seat all weekend long. Contact your Shaw cable provider for subscription information and check out www.screamtelevision.ca for complete programming details.

Regards,
SCREAM Viewer Relations Department

Seed of Chucky

Back off Jack, Chuckys back
I thought this poster for the upcoming movie Seed of Chucky [Child's Play 5?] was pretty hilarious.

My day isn't complete without a flat tire!

It's been snowing all week, total bummer. And I've been getting swamped with deliveries at the end of the day, every day. I'll be so happy when tomorrow is over and it's the weekend. As if that wasn't bad enough, I got a flat tire yesterday, and then again today. I'm getting pretty good at swapping in a fresh tube though. When I came home today, what did I hear? Sssssss. Fuck, the front tire had another piece of glass in it and it was losing air. I pried the shard out and it seems to be holding air alright, so I might forego replacing the tube if it doesn't go totally flat overnight. Eek, three flats in two days, this might be a long winter. :(

Law & Order : CI

Wow, two weeks without posting on here! I'm losing it.

Die! Die!
Just watched L&O:CI where you can vote on the fate of Nicole Wallace. I voted for her to live just because I thought that ending worked better for the episode. Kind of a gimmicky thing to do, but it was a good ep. Although they did keep the camera on Goren's face for a long time during the viewing of the Nicole interrogation. What was that all about? His expression never changed either, kinda weird.

Spastic Gimp

I thought I'd take some pictures of my Haplopema sp. tonight, mostly to see if she has a "beard" like the spider in this thread. She has a bit of a fringe, but nothing like the "beards" on the spiders in this thread. And her abdomen seems to have more distinct markings than the Haplopelma in the first thread. I don't know, it does look very similar though. Anyway, I took the lid off her cage and holy shit did she ever freak out! She darted over to one corner, then back the way she came, paused, and darted across the cage again. Yikes, she's a lively one! Eventually she calmed down and I took a few pics. It's funny how she's so dead to the world during the day, but a total spaz at night. I've noticed both her hind legs are a bit gimped though. The last segment seems to bend back the wrong way a lot of the time. Not sure if this is a genetic deformity or maybe she'll molt and come out "normal". Anyway, interesting spider, glad I have her, even if she is a gimp.

Mmm, looking at this page, I would guess it's a Haplopelma sp. "Vietnam" due to its wimpy rear legs and darker colour.

Finished off another game

I finished Ground Control II today. I had a lot of fun with it at the begining playing the NSA scenarios. But when the campaign switched over to the Virons, it kind of lost steam for me. I could never get the hang of the melding/unmelding thing. The graphics were really nice in this game, nice and bright and playable in hi-res, unlike say, Doom3. ;) After awhile, it became hard to be creative tactically though. You needed rocket launchers for a protection from artillery, artillery to soften up enemy positions, anti-air personel to take care of air units etc. I guess there's not really any way to avoid that type of thing, but it did make a lot of the scenarios just more of the same after you reached a certain point in the game and you had access to all available units. I guess the Viron missions were a way of mixing things up, but I just didn't enjoy the Viron ep's as much. The story was ok and the cutscenes were actually pretty decent. I'd give it a 8/10 methinks.

The Grind

I've been too busy to post anything here lately. Thursday I was supposed to do my billing and I stayed up till 1:00am trying to get it done, but it still wasn't done and my eyes were bugging out so I quit. Then I had to get all these doughnuts for people on Friday morning, plus a bunch of leftover deliveries from the day before when I got swamped with stuff at 4:00pm. Last day of the month and people leave everything till the last minute, and blame me if it doesn't get there in time. Fun. And I got not one but two, two traffic tickets on Wednesday, after going for a long time [years?] without getting a single ticket. In fact, I got these two tickets within a two hour span no less. One was for 'riding too far from the curb' and the other for riding on the sidewalk, even though I was just coming off the road so I could park my bike and make a delivery. I think it was 'fill your quota before the end of the month' time and I got burned. I was pretty unhappy.

But I did get some good news that day. Awhile back I was trying to get this account, but they ended up going with somebody else. On Wednesday, they contacted me to do their bank deposits and mail run. I guess their new courier wasn't doing a very good job, so I'm getting a chance to do it. Cool, it's eight deposits at a time, so it is a bit of work. On the other hand, I found out one of my accounts got bought up by a larger company, so I'm losing their business. They were a pretty small account, but still, every little bit helps. And at the end of October, I'm going to lose another account. They're moving to the north-east, out of my service area. The business I'm getting from the new account should more than make up for the lost business from these two smaller acounts, so I should still come out ahead. I hope.
